Volunteer Drivers are crucial to the delivery of our support services to local people with sight loss.

Mobility is one of the biggest problems faced by people with visual impairments so our volunteer drivers play a critical role in helping us to deliver Sight Support’s services.

Minibus Drivers

We need friendly experienced drivers to enable our service users to attend our Day Groups, outings and events.

Time length is varied.

Tasks and activities:

Transport service users to venues and return them home.

Assisting service users safely into and out of the vehicle and venue.

Assist service users at the venue

You will:

Need good people skills

Be over 25 years of age

Hold a clean driving licence with a D1 entitlement

Be required to undertake a short test drive

Reliability

Training and Support:

Before starting to volunteer as a driver, you will be asked to provide a copy of your driving licence, insurance certificate and, if you are transporting passengers, a copy of your most recent sight test.

Two references and a DBS disclosure are required for this role.
